What is it?

A Pre-Framed Salt Wall Light Built for Cedar Saunas

Rather than a complicated, floor-to-ceiling loose brick build, our sauna salt walls come as elegantly pre-framed horizontal tiles. These tiles consist of authentic Himalayan salt bricks securely mounted in a beautiful cedar frame, designed to withstand the high heat of your sauna environment and perfectly match your cedar sauna. Using LED lighting these frames emit a soft warm hue to enhance the experience.

Its comfortable features provide seamless use, from installation to maintenance. Set-up is simple, with wiring that can be connected directly to 120 V control panel for power. Placement is flexible, with easy reconfiguration allowing effortless adaptation to any space. The upgraded features of ease make Cedar Barrel Sauna’s Himalayan salt lights the easy choice.

What makes our salt walls truly spectacular is the integrated LED backlighting.

01

A Visual Masterpiece

Translucent pink and orange salt bricks diffuse the warm LED light to create a distinctive sunset effect.

02

Heat Retention

Dense salt bricks absorb heat and release it gradually, adding a softer radiant quality to the room.

03

Flexible Installation

Horizontal framed tiles provide a cleaner and more adaptable installation than loose salt bricks.

04

Easy Care

Routine maintenance is minimal. A light wipe with distilled water is recommended when needed.

Why Himalayan salt?

A Calming Blend of Cedar, Heat and Amber Light

When heated, the Himalayan salt bricks gently release microscopic minerals into the air, cleansing respiratory systems, supporting skin health, and enhancing deeper relaxation.

Combined with the warmth of the sauna, it creates a calming and detoxifying environment that reduces stress and leaves you feeling refreshed.

Cedar Barrel Sauna Himalayan products are equipped with LEDs behind each panel to create a soothing glow. Its required care is minimal- a simple wipe with distilled water is suggested.

Wellness experience

The Halotherapy-Inspired Sauna Environment

Adding a salt wall to your sauna isn't just about luxury aesthetics—it actively works to improve your health. When the Himalayan salt is heated by your sauna, it releases negative ions and microscopic salt particles into the air, a practice known as Halotherapy.

Here is what happens when you combine sauna heat with pure Himalayan salt:

Respiratory Relief

Salt is a natural expectorant. As you breathe in the mineral-rich air, micro-particles help to thin mucus, clear airways, and reduce inflammation. It is highly beneficial for allergy sufferers, or those managing mild asthma and sinus issues.

Skin Rejuvenation

The microscopic salt particles settle on your skin, creating a protective, mineral-rich barrier. Because salt is naturally antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, it acts as a gentle exfoliant that can help calm eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Stress & Anxiety Reduction

The warm, sunset-hued glow of the backlit wall acts as ambient light therapy. This warm amber light triggers the brain's relaxation response, lowering cortisol levels and signaling to your body that it is time to wind down.

Air Purification

Himalayan salt naturally draws moisture and impurities from the air. Combined with the negative ions released by the heat, the salt wall neutralizes pollutants, leaving the air inside your sauna feeling incredibly fresh and pure.

Frequently asked questions about salt sauna walls

What is a Himalayan salt sauna wall?
A Himalayan salt sauna wall is a panel of solid Himalayan salt tiles set into one wall of your sauna, with a warm LED light behind it. As the room heats up and the light comes on, the salt glows in soft pink and amber tones, so one wall looks like a low sunset while you sit in the heat. Ours arrive pre-framed in cedar, ready to mount.
What does a salt wall actually do?
Mostly it changes how the room feels. The warm backlight and the natural colour of the salt make the sauna calmer and more relaxing to sit in, which is the main reason people add one. Salt walls are also associated with halotherapy (salt therapy). We do not make medical claims: treat the wall as a comfort and ambiance upgrade first, and anything beyond that as a bonus. What you can count on: a warmer, calmer looking room in every session, and the gentle salt-air effect that halotherapy fans value.
Why is the salt framed in cedar?
The rest of the sauna is cedar, so a bare salt panel in a metal or plastic frame looks bolted on. We frame each panel in the same cedar as the sauna, so it reads as part of the original build. Cedar also takes the heat and humidity of a sauna without warping the way many materials would.
What sizes and specs do the tiles come in?
Two sizes, both 375mm (14.8 inches) tall. The standard tile is 675 x 375 x 60mm and weighs about 12.5kg; the large tile is 1075 x 375 x 60mm and weighs about 20kg. You can combine tiles to fit your wall, and the wall is rated for normal sauna use up to about 80°C (176°F). The LED system is IPX4 rated for damp heat and its colour rendering index is above 90, so the glow stays warm and true. Tell us your sauna size and we will help work out how many tiles you need.
How is the LED lighting powered and installed?
Each panel is lit by a low-voltage 24V LED strip in a warm 2700K white, run from a transformer that plugs into a standard 120V outlet. The LED components are UL approved. Panels arrive pre-assembled, so fitting one is a matter of mounting the frame and connecting the transformer, not wiring up individual tiles.
How do I clean and care for a salt wall?
Keep it dry and wipe it occasionally with a dry or barely damp cloth, never a soaking one. Salt is hygroscopic, meaning it draws moisture from the air, so good sauna ventilation and letting the room dry out between sessions is really all the upkeep it needs. Avoid spraying water straight onto the salt.
Can I add a salt wall to a sauna I already own?
Often yes. If you have a cedar sauna with a wall that can carry the weight, a pre-framed panel can usually be added. Send us your sauna model or the wall dimensions and we will tell you what fits and how many tiles it takes.
How do I install a salt wall in a sauna?
Each panel arrives pre-assembled in its cedar frame, so the job is closer to hanging a heavy cabinet than building a wall.
  1. Pick a wall that can carry the weight (about 12.5 kg per standard tile).
  2. Fix the cedar frame to the wall studs at the mounting points.
  3. Run the low-voltage cable out of the hot room to the 24V transformer.
  4. Plug the transformer into a standard 120V outlet and test the glow.
You need a drill, a stud finder and a screwdriver; the frame arrives pre-wired, with the LED strip already seated and the transformer in the box. Most handy owners finish in an afternoon. If you would rather talk it through first, call us before you drill anything.
What is the difference between a salt wall and a salt cave?
A salt cave is a dedicated room built almost entirely from salt, usually at a spa, where you sit in a cool, dry space for a halotherapy session. A salt wall is one backlit panel of salt tiles inside your own sauna. You get the look and a gentle version of the salt-air effect without giving a whole room to it, and it works at sauna temperatures instead of needing its own cool space.
